How much does it cost to hire a catamaran on Sydney Harbour?

For catamaran hire on Sydney Harbour, you can expect to pay between $500-$900/hr, depending on the type of vessel and the season. On top of this, most boats charge a wharf pick up and drop off fee (generally $100) and amenities feee (generally $100-$150 or a $15/pp fee). The more luxury style catamarans might also charge a wait staff fee. We will outlay all costs for you upon enquiry, so there are no surprises on the day.

What is the duration of my catamaran hire?

The standard hire time during high season (September – April) or on Saturdays throughout the year is usually 4 hours (or more). However, there are a few vessels that offer 3 hour hires all year round. During low season (May – August) and on weekdays throughout the year, most vessels offer 3 hour hires as well.

What times are available for hire?

Most catamarans are available for an afternoon or evening hire. Afternoon hires typically start at either 12pm or 1pm and evening hires at 5pm or 6pm. Let us know your preference, and we will advise you of the times available.

What is included in my catamaran hire?

Catamaran hire in Sydney includes the use of the vessel itself, along with a professional skipper and crew to navigate and manage the boat. Some catamarans also include additional amenities and services, onboard entertainment systems, water sports equipment like paddleboards or kayaks. We will carefully review the details of any catamaran hire package for you so you can understand what is included and what additional costs may apply.

How far in advance should I book?

Catamarans are some of the most popular boat hire options on Sydney Harbour and they tend to book up quickly, especially on Saturdays during high season. We advise locking in your booking at least 3 months prior to your event, to ensure there will be available options for your preferred time and date.

We advise making a booking in advance to avoid disappointment. However, we understand that sometimes plans can change unexpectedly. So, if you need to make a last-minute booking for a catamaran hire, we will do our very best to secure a booking for you!

Is swimming possible during our catamaran cruise?

Catamarans, in particular, are ideal for enjoying a day of water activities on Sydney Harbour. If your vessel offers easy water access, the captain can take you to the best secluded spots for swimming. Just mention your interest in swimming when you make your enquiry, and our team will take care of the rest!

How does it work with food and drinks? Can we BYO or organise catering?

For groups of up to 45 guests, there’s usually a BYO drinks option available. BYO boats will provide large eskies to keep your drinks chilled, but ice may or may not be included in your hire. We’ll inform you of the BYO option and any associated fees when you make your booking, so you won’t encounter any surprises.

When it comes to food, having sufficient food onboard is a must on all cruises, to comply with RSA guidelines. Catamarans allow you to bring your own food and most have onboard BBQs where the crew can cook it up for you. We’ll let you know if your boat has a BBQ available when you enquire, so you won’t be caught off guard.

Where will we be picked up and dropped off?

You can have a look at all pick up and drop off wharf options here. Subject to availability and potential surcharge, it is possible to opt for separate locations for both pick-up and drop-off. Our team will provide recommendations on appropriate locations for your group and suggest vessels that can pick you up from your desired wharf location.

What happens when it rains?

Our catamarans will sail in any weather conditions deemed safe by the captain. If the weather is unsafe and the captain has to cancel, you’ll receive a voucher for the value of your booking that you can use within 12 months to reschedule. Even when it rains, our guests still have an amazing time our on the Harbour – there’s plenty of room to stay dry, and it can even add to the fun!
